There's another free "service" that I provide that's tied to the weather site: I send out weather email updates, usually once a week unless there's higher activity in the weather by to a list of subscribed folks. Each are written by me after analysing multiple sources and their predictions to the weather.
I also do traffic and wildfire reports as well. If you're interested, I can add you to the list(s).
I've been told that they are probably one most accurate around. I received this today, as a subscriber wanted me to add his friend to the email list:"A slo contractor was complaining of crappy weather predictions. I told him you predicted a rain out of my son's baseball game Monday night 3 to 4 days ahead. I believe you said the rain would show up late afternoon and it arrived at 4:45pm"
Here's how I do it:
1) Looking at a macro level, I begin with the Old Farmer's Almanac, as they include solar activity into their forecast and they boast an 85% success rate.
2) I then turn to the National Weather Service, as they have multiple weather model forecasts churned out by the supercomputers located in Washington DC, plus they also pull from the other weather models by other countries.
3) At the micro level, I review the weather analysis from John Lindsey at PG&E's Diablo Canyon facility. John is their meteorologist and uses Navy models for his reports.
Like a stew, I combine the three and stir. I may add more of one compared to the other, depending on how well they're lining up to each other.
Finally, I keep the reports, short, sweet, and easy to understand. I know everyone is short on time so I try to minimize the interruption.I don't always get the report exact to reality, as I'm limited to the information provided to me.
